Courses I have taught

Northern Illinois

  • Fundamentals of Physics III: Quantum Physics. (Fall 2011) Physical laws governing optics, atomic, solid state, nuclear, and elementary particle physics using calculus. We use Giancoli's textbook.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)

  • Physics I Distance learning. (Spring 2004)

RPI offered a program so that US Navy sailors who were at the Nuclear Power School in Ballston Spa, NY would be able to work toward a Masters in Nuclear Engineering. Once a week, I would travel from Troy to Ballston Spa to teach the students the introductory Physics I course. The students were a more diverse range of ages and experiences than the standard college freshman.

Siena College

  • General Physics I and II lab, (Fall 2002, Spring 2003)
  • General Physics IA lecture (Fall, 2003)

During my last two years of grad school, I taught at nearby Siena College. My first two semesters, I taught two sections of the intro physics labs. Following those courses, I was given the chance to teach a lecture section of the intro physics class, where I was given freedom to write my own lectures, homeworks, and exams. It was the first time I'd taught a full course and I really enjoyed the class.
